Our School History

Sandon Public School was established at the end of 1992 and commenced its present operation at the beginning of 1993.

Prior to 1993, Sandon Public School was known as Mirambeena School for Specific Purposes (SSP) and catered exclusively for students with disabilities. Mirambeena SSP was established on the current Sandon Public School site in 1981.

Parents of students with disabilities enrolled at Mirambeena SSP, in co-operation with the NSW Department of Education and Training, planned and worked for many months to bring about the establishment of a new mainstream public school at the site of Mirambeena. The planning and hard work became a reality in 1993 when three mainstream classes and two special education classes were formed to become Sandon Public School.
