Community involvement

Our school values strong partnerships with our families and community. Parents and carers can get involved through our Parents and Citizens Association (P&C). Your time and support help make our school a better place for everyone.

Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)

Sandon runs a very relaxed and friendly P&C that meets just once a term for about an hour. Despite the short meetings, we play an important role in supporting the school through a variety of fun and meaningful activities., including:

• Providing a way for parents and carers to have a say in important school matters.
• Organising enjoyable events such as the Mother’s, Father’s, and Carer’s Day stalls.
• Arranging special food days and treat bags throughout the year.
• Running fundraising activities like raffles to help fund essential school items.
• Assisting with school events such as the school disco.

Parents and carers can be involved as much or as little as they like — whether that’s dialling into meetings from home, helping out with one stall a year, or lending a hand whenever time allows. Our Committee and members all juggle work and family commitments, so flexibility is the key.

Getting involved is a wonderful way to connect with the school community, and it’s guaranteed to make your child’s face light up when they see you having fun and supporting their school. We would love to have you join us!

What we do as a P&C

The Sandon Public School P&C plays a vital role by coordinating and directly providing services, as well as raising funds that support important school assets and teaching resources. Our aims include:

• Facilitating communication and social interaction across the whole school community
• Celebrating and supporting the rich multicultural diversity within our school
• Promoting the recreation and welfare of all students
• Encouraging parent and community participation to enhance educational outcomes
• Assisting in providing facilities and equipment whenever the need arises
• Giving parents and the community a strong voice in major decisions concerning the school

The P&C also provides governance and coordination for a variety of sub-committees that support our school community, including canteen, social and fundraising events, multicultural activities, uniform, band, strings, gardening, sustainability, and traffic management.
